Design of a New Cultural Center for the Puerto Rican and Latinx Community in Boston with Annum Architects

We are excited to announce our design of a New Cultural Center for the Puerto Rican and Latinx Community in Boston for Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción with our collaborating partners Annum Architects. This new four-story 26,000 SF cultural center will start construction this fall in Boston's historic South End and will be completed in late 2024.

The design collaboration by a diverse team led by Latinx and women architects, reflects a deep respect for IBA's mission and vision: one of empowering individuals and families to improve their lives and achieve socio-economic mobility through high-quality affordable housing, education, financial and resident empowerment and arts programs.

The sustainable, modern design respects the historic context and includes a terra cotta and glass rainscreen facade with a roof deck overlooking O’Day Park. The LEED Certified building is all electric and includes a double-height event space, gallery, art studios, and administrative offices for IBA’s services. Important historic elements from the prior church are integrated throughout the design.
